NOFUTURE /VA\ 2023 Compilation Press Release

Berlin’s hedonistic club culture has collided head-on with the deconstructed latinx music scene with the arrival of the latest 2-part compilation, NOFUTURE /VA\ 2023.
Functioning as a projection of the booking agency and digital label NOFUTUREBERLIN’s personality, the selection is an appropriately multinational, club latinx focussed, tropical and future rave collection of absolute bangers. Influenced by the work of netlabels such as Granada’s Caballito and physical labels such as Mexico City’s NAAFI and Lisbon’s Príncipe, NOFUTUREBERLIN is obsessed with community and bringing together artists from all over the world who fall under their aesthetic: Brutal, raw, sexy and Latinx (but not exclusively!)

The label has been an overachiever since its conception at the start of 2020. NOFUTURE boasts 15 releases on Bandcamp from 7 different South American and European countries, weekly posts of related artists on Soundcloud, as well as the curation of extremely successful parties in Berlin. These events have forged paths to open spaces for this new club culture in mainland Europe.

Going through the massive 36 tracks of NOFUTURE /VA\ 2023, you’ll get a feeling for the multiple facets contributing to the label’s streams. It showcases the influence of Dj BabaTr raptor house founder Dj BabaTr on tracks like “Chueco” by Entrañas, “Ay Ay Ay” by Sapphir22 and Aleroj’s “Slob on my Cat”, as well as recognizable Guaracha rhythms in NFTL’s “No Passado” or Bigote's “Budú”.

The compilation includes the dark, contagious vibes of deep reggaeton in “Hello Kittys” by Zerena Morena or Radeco Domar’s “Efe” or the euphoric technoperreo vibes in Jagz’ “Dosis”.

There is a grimier side of NOFUTURE’s brand, shimmying between ghetto tech and electro breaks in the tunes by ToBY, Fisk , Brava & Metrakit and Don Peligro. Finally the compilation has a lot of satisfying tropical-bass-influenced tracks and cumbia rebajada modes from established acts like Sandunga, QECHUABOi and compulsive producer Satanico to round off the fresh vision of the latin post-club scene.

The energy of NOFUTUREBERLIN to promote these artists and create a community of folks who love this music is infectious, and the compilation, dropped on two separate dates - 20th of January and 10th of February on Bandcamp & Soundcloud - is a pleasure to dive deep into - and is an important representation of what is new and exciting in club culture in 2023.
